Bus ServicesBus Eireann operate a comprehensive
provincial service to the many towns and villages throughout the Shannon
Region. These services operate out of the main urban centres at Limerick,
Tralee and Ennis. The provincial routes operate as a commuter and feeder
service. Main towns are connected by the Expressway service which operates on a
frequent basis and forms part of the national bus routes to Ireland's other
main towns and cities. Frequent user tickets, by the day, week or month are
available from the main stations. During the summer months extra services
operate to the main seaside resorts and places of interest like Doolin in Co.
Clare which also has a ferry crossing to the Aran Islands. For further details

Internal FerriesKillimer Tarbert FerriesKillimer Tarbert Ferries - a car
ferry "bridge" between Kerry and Clare. The main tourist routes of
the West of Ireland's Shannon Region are linked via the Killimer-Tarbert car
ferry. This pleasant, 20 minute journey across the Shannon Estuary will save
137km. ( 85 mls) from ferry terminal to ferry terminal providing a staging
point for the many attractions of Clare, Kerry and adjoining counties. Killimer
is in County Clare and Tarbert in Co. Kerry. No reservations necessary. Ferries
operate year-round. It leaves Killimer every hour on the hour (07:00hrs to
21:00hrs) and Tarbert every hour on the half-hour (07:30hrs to 21:30hrs).
Visit the Aran Islands by FerryThe legendary Aran Islands, lie just five miles off the coast of Co. Clare. There are three islands in the group, Inismore, Inismaan and Inisheer all serviced by ferry from Doolin in Co. Clare. These bastions of ancient Irish culture have bred a hardy breed of fisherman and farmers whose roots go back way before recorded history and who still speak Irish. Accommodation and meals are available on all three islands. The ferry from Doolin in Co. Clare to the Aran Islands is circa 30 minutes duration. Several ferry sailings daily. Scattery Island is just less than 2 miles from Kilrush Marina; once clear of
the lock gates it takes 15-20 minutes by ferry to cross to the island where St
Senan founded a monastic settlement in the 6th century. On the island a
lighthouse, gun battery from Napoleonic times and a round tower are to be
found, as well as an abundance of wildlife. M.V. St. Senan II departs Kilrush
