Annual Meeting Minutes 2009Minutes of the 2009 Annual meeting of the Shannon Town Council held in the Shannon Town Hall at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday June 15th 2009Councillor Gerry Flynn outgoing Meara Bhaile initially chaired the meeting Present were Cllrs. Duff, McCarthy, McLoughlin, Brennan, McCafferty, Fleming, McMahon, and Mulcahy. 7/06/09 Declaration of Elected MembersThe Town Clerk read the names and political affiliation, where appropriate of persons elected to the Council, in order of election, at the Local Elections held on June 5th 2009. 8/06/09 Election of Meara Bhaile Cllr. Sean McLoughlin was elected Meara Bhaile by five votes to four votes for Cllr. Tony McMahon. At this stage Cllr. Flynn vacated the Chair and Cllr. Seán McLoughlin presided over the remainder of the meeting. 9/06/09 Election of Leas Meara Bhaile Proposed by Cllr. McCarthy and seconded by Cllr. Mulcahy 10/06/09 Delegates to A.M.A.I.Cllr. McCarthy was proposed by Cllr.Mulcahy and seconded by Cllr. Brennan Cllr. McLoughlin was proposed by Cllr Mulcahy and seconded by Cllr. Fleming. As there were no further proposals Cllr. McCarthy and Cllr. McLoughlin were declared to be the two delegates from Shannon Town Council to the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland. 11/06/09 Shannon Airport Marketing Authority Proposed by Cllr. McCarthy, seconded by Cllr. Brennan and resolved 12/06/09 Appoint of Chairpersons of Municipal Policy Committees It was proposed by Cllr. Mulcahy, seconded by Cllr. McCarthy and resolved. It was proposed by Cllr. McCarthy, seconded by Cllr. Mulcahy and resolved. By virtue of his office the Meara Bhaile is an ex-officio member of both committees. 13/06/09 Representative on Shannon River Basin Committee It was proposed by Cllr. McCarthy, seconded by Cllr. Brennan and resolved. 14/06/09 CorrespondenceA letter from Cathal Dillon, Shannon Youth Worker asking the Town Council to host a reception for ten young people from Omagh & Fintona in Co. Tyrone and their hosts in Shannon on Tuesday June 30th was read and it was proposed by Cllr. Flynn, seconded by Cllr. Duff and resolved "that a reception be held to recognise the visit of these young people to Shannon." |
