Shannon Town Council Meeting Minutes October 2007

Minutes of the special meeting of the Shannon Town Council held in the Shannon Town Hall at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday October 2nd 2007  to consider  the allocation of the 2007 community grants

The Meara Bhaile, Cllr. Sean McLoughlin, presided.

Present were Cllrs. Flynn, McCarthy and Duff.

Apologies from Cllr. Lambert

Also in attendance were Gerard Dollard -  Town Manager and Tomás Mac Cormaic – Town Clerk.

1/10/07: Community Grants  for 2007
Proposed by Cllr. McCarthy, seconded by Cllr. Duff and resolved;
That each applicant be given €300 with an extra €200 being given to the Shannon Musical Society, Clare Haven Services and Shannon Community Radio.  A total of €5,100 out of €5,300 allocated in the 2007 Budget, leaving a balance of €200 which might be allocated at a later date.”

2/10/07: Liosta na Laochra

As no nominations had been received for individuals winning National or International awards (Liosta na Laochra) the Council decided to give special awards to the following clubs/societies for their contribution over the years;

Shannon Musical Society for 30 years of excellent entertainment.
Shannon Community Games for dedication in promoting sports of all categories among our youth.
Shannon Chess Club for the promotion of Chess among the youth.
