Minutes of the July Monthly Meeting of the Shannon Town Council held
in the Shannon Town Hall on Tuesday June 27th 2006 immediately after the
2006 Annual Meeting.
Councillor Tony McMahon, Meara Bhaile, presided.
Present were Councillors, Flynn, McLoughlin, Duff, McCarthy, Lambert,
McKee, Hillery and Mulcahy
In attendance : Mr. Gerard Dollard – Town Manager and Tomás
Mac Cormaic - Town Clerk
1/07/06 June Minutes.
Proposed by Cllr. Mulcahy, seconded by Cllr. McCarthy and resolved;
“that the minutes of the June monthly meeting of the Shannon Town
Council held in the Shannon Town Hall at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday June 6th
2006, having been circulated, be adopted and signed by the Meara Bhaile.”
2/07/06 Correspondence.
- An acknowledgement from the Department of Justice of a letter seeking
clarification of responsibility for prosecution or otherwise of owners
of unattended alarm sirens was noted.
- Notification of an amendment to the A.M.A.I. Constitution to be put
before the 2006 Annual Conference of A.M.A.I. was noted.
- Notification of the dates and venue for the A.M.A.I. Conference was
noted.
It was proposed by Cllr. Mulcahy, seconded by Cllr. Flynn and resolved;
“that the two delegates to the A.M.A.I., Cllrs. McMahon and McLoughlin
attend this conference.”
3/07/06 Area Council Meeting.
Cllr. Mulcahy gave a verbal report to the members on issues of relevance
to Shannon Town discussed at the June Area Council Meeting notably the
progress on the Arts Centre.
4/07/06 Reports from MPC Chairs.
Cllr. McMahon said that the voluntary housing scheme is still being
considered.
Cllr. McLoughlin told the meeting that the Youth Fun Day scheduled for
July 1st is going ahead with plans for a barbeque and a band stand at
the rear of Tir na nOg Playground, the use of the Leisure Centre for indoor
sports events and Rineanna Hall later for disco and other musical events.
5/07/06 Town Twinning.
It was proposed by Cllr. McCarthy, seconded by Cllr. Lambert and resolved;
“that the Town Council give it’s support to the proposed Town
Twinning visit to Guingamp from September 16th to 22nd and that if possible
the Meara Bhaile represent the town on this trip and if not available
to do so that he nominate a representative.”
6/07/06 Sewerage System 7 to 14 Moy Park.
Proposed by Cllr. McLoughlin, seconded by Cllr. McCarthy and resolved;
“that Clare County Council investigate and resolve the continuous
problem with the sewerage system at 7 to 14 Moy Park.”
The Town Clerk reported that this matter has already been corrected.
7/07/06 Briefing on Housing Needs and Housing Plans.
Proposed by Cllr. Lambert, seconded by Cllr. Mulcahy and resolved;
“to request the attendance of the Acting Director of Housing at
the September meeting to brief the members on the housing needs and housing
plans for Shannon by Clare County Council.”
The Town Manager confirmed that this would be done.
